Ms. Beth Sims
Homeroom Teacher, 1B |
Ms. Beth grew up near Chicago, IL and completed a B.A. in Psychology and Theology before traveling, studying, and teaching in various cities around China. She then returned to Chicago to earn a M.A. in Elementary Education from Roosevelt University. After spending a few years teaching in a variety of roles in Chicago Public Schools, Beth returned to China to teach second grade at an International Bilingual School in Beijing. From there she relocated to Hungary and taught with the early childhood team at AISB for 3 years before taking an extended leave with her two young sons. She is now returning to AISB to join the grade 1 team and hopes to continue facilitating outdoor education experiences for students and integrating play-based learning opportunities.

Ms. Heather Macmichael

Ms. Heather was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada and spent her summers as a camp counselor which led her down the path of becoming a teacher. She has always loved the energy and creativity of children. Ms. Heather completed her undergraduate studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario where she earned a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Life Science and a B.A. in Health. She then went on to complete her B.Ed. studies at Lakehead University. Ms. Heather completed her postgraduate M.Ed. studies through Endicott College. Recognizing the growing presence of technology in the classroom, Ms. Heather also completed a Certificate of Educational Technology and Information Literacy through the State University of New York.

Ms. Violetta Unyi

Ms. Violetta has been part of the AISB community since 2000. Over the years she worked as an Assistant Teacher in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade, and also acted as the Encore Assistant, helping students and Specialist teachers in and around their classrooms. In addition to fulfilling the role of the Classroom Assistant Teacher, she also took on roles as the Team Leader of the Assistant Teachers, led the Arts and Crafts Program in the Junior Summer Camp for 15 summers, and has held many popular after school activities for many years. Ms. Violetta enjoys traveling and exploring the world we live in, just as much as traveling "within" and exploring new ideas and concept about the human nature. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Education from West Hungarian University, Bender Elek Faculty of Pedagogy in Sopron, Hungary. Her education included counseling, psychology, many therapies, child protection, and family care.

Corinne Maurice

Corinne is Australian and has a Bachelor in Education (Primary) and Masters in Development Practice. Corinne's adventurous nature motivated her to seek teaching opportunities overseas and over the past 15 years she has taught in Australia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Fiji and Hungary. From the start of her teaching career, Corinne has always believed in building a strong rapport with students to help them build their own sense of confidence in their abilities. Corinne approaches teaching and learning with a holistic philosophy and is deeply passionate about providing individualised attention and care to each of her students. In her spare time, Corinne highly values spending time with her husband and two young children, especially camping, bush-walking and cycling. She believes in taking every opportunity that life offers and maintaining a child-like enthusiasm and wonder in all things.

Ms. Eszter Stark

Ms. Eszter joined AISB in 2017. She completed her Master’s Degree in 2016 as an English and Portuguese teacher. During her teaching practices, she had the opportunity to engage with teaching, organizing, and coordinating events, such as school trips and student exchange programs. Her professional background comes from the Hungarian Scout Movement, which she joined in 2002. After participating in the leader-training, she became a patrol leader in 2008. She has been working with children ever since. She took part in organizing several indoor and outdoor events each year, including summer and winter camps, field trips, commemorations, and weekly patrol meetings. Ms. Eszter has had the opportunity to work with disadvantaged children, which gave her a unique experience. In her free time, Ms. Eszter enjoys singing, playing the guitar and the piano, and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

Alycia Corey

Alycia is originally from the west coast of the United States. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Puget Sound, and she also holds a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education. Alycia has taught a range of grade levels in her various positions at international schools. She previously worked at schools in China, France, and Spain. Alycia strives to create an inviting learning environment for children to explore the world around them based on their curiosity and interests. She believes all children can be successful when surrounded by a supportive community. In her free time, Alycia enjoys swimming, yoga, and spending time with family and friends in the outdoors.

Ms. Anna Kenesey

Ms. Anna has over 20 years of teaching experience. This year is her 19th year of teaching at AISB. Her professional background includes speech therapy and teaching children with special needs. She taught kindergarten for 10 years and grade 1 for eight years. She has held leadership positions, including Assistant Teacher Team Leader and Summer Camp Coordinator. Ms. Anna has two children who have both gone through grade 1. In her free time, Ms. Anna enjoys spending time with her family and the outdoors.

Ms. Kelly Meredith
EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher |
Ms. Kelly is new to the AISB community. She is American and is originally from Colorado. She is coming from Jeju Island, South Korea with her husband and young son. Ms. Kelly has always loved traveling and getting to know people from other countries and cultures. She has taught overseas in Croatia, Qatar, and South Korea. She is very excited to be back in Europe! Ms. Kelly holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on EAL. She has been a classroom teacher, EAL teacher, and an Instructional Coach. In her free time she likes to read, cook, and explore new parts of the city with her family.

Ms. Olivia Ma
LS (Learning Support) Teacher |
Ms. Olivia was born and raised in San Jose, California. She attended Seattle Pacific University where she majored in Special Education and minored in Psychology. She furthered her professional skills by earning a Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) Certificate and an Autism Spectrum Disorders Authorization. Ms. Olivia taught elementary Learning Resource in California public schools before moving to Budapest. She focuses on working collaboratively with each student to discover their strengths, preferences, and learning style. She strives to foster student confidence, as she firmly believes that confidence is key to the growth and development of each student learner.
